Training starts!
Shaz and I are in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina right now. After two tough weeks of cycling, we are here for two weeks.
Our first long walking event when we get back to Europe in May, will be the continental centurion. Plenty of Parish Walkers are also centurions and know it's tough to keep up the speed required to complete 100 miles in less than 24 hours.
Sure, the centurion courses are flat, and Parish Walk is not. But keeping those legs turning fast is tough.
With all the cycling we are doing, Shaz and I are now keen to create opportunities for long and fast training walks. This began yesterday, with a 30km effort at just slower than 7:30 per km. It felt good to move the legs quickly and keep the intensity high.
It was hot here is BsAs, with 27 degrees and high humidity when we began, and right on 30 degrees when we stopped. Some shade which helped, but mostly hot sun. We hydrated well, and are in good condition today with no apparent issues. A good start to our training.
